Tales From Janus Valley
Sweetening of the Wells
For the halflings of Sweetwater Village, the Sweetening of the Wells festival is a time when tradition reigns supreme. Legend has it that the village elders have a magic potion that gives their water its fresh taste, and that every year, the town must add more of the potion to keep the magic flowing. In practice, it’s an occasion for a few days of revelry while local artists perform for a receptive audience. Mandolin and dulcimer music fills the air, while the aroma of authentic halfling baked goods teases the nose. Vistors are encouraged to take in local folk dancers and admire Sweetwater’s many fine woodworkers’ goods. Though little known to the world at large, the Sweetening of the Wells remains a quaint and charming piece of local custom.
