Tales From Janus Valley
Lady of the Sea
The Lady of the Sea is a popular restaurant and tavern on Maynard’s Crossing’s thriving waterfront. It is one of the more upscale establishments, and strictly enforces a no-weapons policy. This makes it more suited for well-heeled travelers than the average dockside bar, and as such, it has earned a reputation for being a safe and quiet place to dine.
The original Lady was constructed nearly one-hundred and fifty years ago out of the hulls of decomissioned ships. It was frequented by lawless smugglers and swashbucklers, and after a long and colorful history, fell into disrepair. After being gutted by a fire forty years ago, the Lady was abandoned and mostly forgotten.
An enterprising elf by the name of Talos Ephasion purchased the rotted wreck a few decades later during a push to revitalize the waterfront district. He tore down the old timbers and constructed the new Lady wholesale, while keeping much of the same design. The resultant tavern kept much of the freebooting nautical style of the old Lady, but added an atmosphere of class and decorum. Business flourished, and six years ago, Ephasion retired, passing the Lady onto his chief barkeep Noni Rosering.
