Tales From Janus Valley
A mysterious figure has been repeatedly abducting the eladrin ranger Dashiel It has expressed a very unorthodox understanding of time, sometimes referencing events yet to come in the past tense, and sometimes talking about events long ago as though they’re happening right now. Its power can’t be denied, however, as it seems to be able to snag Dashiel mid-teleport, seemingly on a whim. It seems to have a continuing interest in world’s events, and acts as though it is working towards some greater plan. Its origins, and indeed overall goal, remain an enigma.
The entity calls itself Eternity, and its days of mortality are long since passed. Behind its eyes are a limitless void studded with stars, and its movements are just slightly off from those of a living creature. Despite this, it seems to have a desire to interact with mortals, even if it is just to pursue its own agenda, which seems to correspond with the Red Sky prophecy. Eternity describes this event as a singular point in all the branching pathways of time, a moment where all possibilities collapse, and beyond which, not even it can see. To that end, Eternity is using its unique perspective of time to ready the world for the dreaded day when the skies burn and the future remain unsure.
